PM Modi at Somnath Temple marked a grand spiritual celebration as Prime Minister Narendra Modi performed Mahapuja, Jalabhishek, and Kumbhabhishek during the Somnath Amrit Mahotsav in Gujarat.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday participated in the grand ‘Somnath Amrit Mahotsav’ held at the historic Somnath Temple in Gujarat’s Gir Somnath district. The celebration marked 75 years of the reconstruction of the revered temple, one of the 12 sacred Jyotirlingas dedicated to Lord Shiva.
The event commemorated the restoration of the temple and its inauguration in 1951 by India’s first President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad. The temple premises echoed with Vedic chants and devotional hymns throughout the ceremony.
Grand Roadshow Receives Massive Public Response
PM Modi at Somnath Temple: After arriving from Jamnagar, Prime Minister Modi held a grand roadshow from the helipad to the temple premises. Thousands of people lined the 1.5-kilometre route to welcome him with cheers, flags, and slogans.
Bhupendra Patel and Harsh Sanghavi accompanied the Prime Minister during the procession. Artists from several states, including West Bengal, performed traditional cultural dances along the route, adding vibrancy to the celebrations.
Mahapuja and Sacred Rituals Performed
At the temple, Prime Minister Modi performed special religious rituals including Jalabhishek, Dhwaj Puja, and Mahapuja. A historic ‘Kumbhabhishek’ ceremony was also conducted using holy water brought from 11 sacred pilgrimage sites across the country.
The rituals were carried out amid elaborate Vedic chanting and traditional customs, creating a deeply spiritual atmosphere inside the temple complex.
Flower Shower and Cultural Celebrations Add Grandeur
The celebrations became even more spectacular as flowers were showered on the temple premises from helicopters during the ceremony. The temple was beautifully decorated with lights and traditional ornaments for the occasion.
Several cultural performances showcasing India’s rich heritage were organized during the event, drawing the attention of devotees and dignitaries present at the venue.
Tight Security Arrangements in Gir Somnath
PM Modi at Somnath Temple: Considering the Prime Minister’s visit and the large public gathering, elaborate security arrangements were put in place across the Gir Somnath district. Police and security personnel were deployed in large numbers to ensure smooth conduct of the event.
Prime Minister Modi is also scheduled to address a public gathering at the Sadbhavana Ground in Somnath later in the day.
