PM Modi Begins 6 Day Visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a six-day, five-nation diplomatic tour beginning Friday, covering the United Arab Emirates, Netherlands, Sweden, Norway and Italy. The visit is aimed at strengthening India’s strategic and economic partnerships with key European and Gulf nations.

PM Modi Begins 6 Day Visit comes at a significant time as India seeks to deepen cooperation with Europe in trade, technology, clean energy, innovation and investment following the recently concluded India-EU Free Trade Agreement negotiations.

UAE Visit to Focus on Energy and Strategic Cooperation

In the first leg of the tour, Mr Modi will arrive in the UAE on Friday, where he is scheduled to hold talks with UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The discussions are expected to focus on bilateral cooperation in energy, trade and investment, along with regional and global developments of mutual interest. India and the UAE have witnessed rapidly expanding ties in recent years across sectors including infrastructure, fintech, food security and renewable energy.

Netherlands Engagements to Strengthen Innovation Partnership

Following the UAE visit, the Prime Minister will travel to the Netherlands and meet Willem-Alexander and Máxima. He will also hold bilateral talks with Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten.

The visit is expected to build upon growing cooperation in defence, security, semiconductors, green hydrogen, innovation and water management under the India-Netherlands Strategic Partnership framework.

Sweden Visit to Emphasize Industrial and Technology Cooperation

On Sunday, Mr Modi will reach Gothenburg for bilateral discussions with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.

Both leaders are likely to review the full spectrum of bilateral relations and identify new opportunities in advanced manufacturing, digital technology and sustainability.

The two Prime Ministers will also jointly address the European Round Table for Industry along with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, highlighting India’s growing economic engagement with European industries.

Norway to Host India-Nordic Summit

In the fourth leg of the visit, Prime Minister Modi will travel to Norway on Monday to participate in the 3rd India-Nordic Summit.

During the visit, he will meet Harald V, Sonja and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.

The Prime Minister is also scheduled to address the India-Norway Business and Research Summit, with discussions expected around clean energy, Arctic cooperation, innovation and maritime sectors.

Italy Visit to Conclude Diplomatic Tour

As part of the final leg of the tour, Mr Modi will undertake an official visit to Italy on Tuesday. He will call on Italian President Sergio Mattarella and hold talks with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

The visit follows Mr Modi’s previous trip to Italy during the G7 Summit in June 2024 and is expected to further strengthen bilateral ties under the India-Italy Joint Strategic Action Plan 2025–2029.

The six-day diplomatic tour is being viewed as a major step in advancing India’s strategic partnerships with Europe and the Gulf region, while reinforcing cooperation in trade, technology, energy and global governance.
