Ahmedabad Dholera Semi High-Speed Rail Corridor project will connect Ahmedabad and Dholera through a 134-km broad gauge semi high-speed rail line with metro, bullet train and DFC connectivity.

Ahmedabad Dholera Semi High-Speed Rail Corridor

Gujarat is set to receive the country’s first broad gauge semi high-speed rail corridor. A 134-kilometre-long double broad gauge semi high-speed rail line will be constructed between Sarkhej in Ahmedabad and Dholera Special Investment Region. The ambitious project is expected to provide a major boost to the state’s industrial and transportation infrastructure.

Trains to Run at 220 kmph Design Speed

Under the project, the rail corridor will be designed for speeds up to 220 kilometres per hour, while trains are expected to operate at 200 kmph. Railway officials stated that passengers will be able to travel from Ahmedabad to Dholera in just 45 minutes.

Direct Connectivity to Dholera SIR and Lothal Heritage Complex

The corridor will provide modern rail connectivity to Dholera SIR, the upcoming Dholera International Airport, and the National Maritime Heritage Complex.

Rail Network to Connect with Metro, Bullet Train and DFC

As part of the project, Sabarmati, Gandhigram and Vastrapur railway stations will be integrated with the Ahmedabad Metro network. In addition, Sabarmati Multimodal Transport Hub will offer connectivity with the bullet train project, while Moriya station will be linked to the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC). The project is expected to transform Gujarat into a world-class multi-modal transport hub.

MLA Amit Thaker Visits Vastrapur Station

Vejalpur MLA Amit Thaker visited Vastrapur station to review the proposed development works. Senior railway officials, including Divisional Railway Manager Ved Prakash, were present during the visit.

“Project Will Give New Direction to Gujarat’s Development”

Speaking on the occasion, Amit Thaker said that large-scale infrastructure projects open new opportunities for regional growth and future development. He stated that the semi high-speed rail corridor connecting Ahmedabad with the rapidly developing Dholera industrial region would accelerate Gujarat’s economic progress.

He also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, stating that the Rs 20,667 crore project would create significant investment and development opportunities in Ahmedabad and surrounding areas.

Employment and Industrial Growth Expected to Rise

Divisional Railway Manager Ved Prakash said the project would significantly boost employment, residential growth and commercial activities. He added that the ongoing industrial and port-related developments in the Bhavnagar and Dholera regions would create new job opportunities for youth in Ahmedabad and nearby areas.

Project to be Developed Under PM Gati Shakti Master Plan

The rail corridor is being developed under the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan, aimed at strengthening multi-modal connectivity and enhancing India’s logistics efficiency.
