Narendra Modi is currently on a visit to the Netherlands. During his visit, he addressed a special event organized in honor of the Indian community in The Hague. In his speech, he praised the hard work, cultural values, and contributions of Indians living in the Netherlands to society and the economy.
Beginning his address, PM Modi spoke about the warmth and enthusiasm shown by the audience. He said, “The amount of love and enthusiasm here made me forget for a moment that I am in the Netherlands. It feels like a festival is being celebrated in India.”
Highlights Indian Culture and Traditions
The Prime Minister said that every Indian feels proud of the contribution made by the Indian community to Dutch society and the economy. He also thanked the people and government of the Netherlands and conveyed his greetings on behalf of 1.4 billion Indians.
Speaking about India’s cultural identity across the world, PM Modi said that the stories of many Indian families in the Netherlands are not just stories of migration, but stories of progress achieved while preserving cultural faith and traditions despite many struggles. He noted that even after crossing oceans, Indians have kept alive their languages, festivals, devotional songs, and ancestral traditions.
Indian Culture Reaching Future Generations
PM Modi further stated that while times and environments may have changed, Indian family values and the sense of belonging have remained strong. He appreciated the Indian community for adopting the Dutch language while also preserving the languages and traditions of their ancestors.
He especially mentioned community radio stations in the Netherlands, which continue to promote Indian songs and culture among younger generations. Calling these efforts commendable, the Prime Minister congratulated the Indian community for keeping Indian heritage alive abroad.
