For the first time in India’s census history, citizens will be able to complete their population census details through a self-enumeration system. This new initiative allows people to submit their information online using a mobile phone or computer without waiting for field officials.

In Gujarat, the self-enumeration process will remain open from May 17 to May 31, 2026, giving citizens a 15-day window to complete their registration online.

Chief Minister Appeals for Public Participation

During the launch event, Director of Census Operations Gujarat, Shri Sujal Mayatra, also briefed the Chief Minister about the activities related to Census 2027.

House Listing Operations to Begin in June 2026

Following the self-enumeration phase, the government will conduct House Listing Operations (HLO) from June 1 to June 30, 2026. More than one lakh census workers will participate in the field operations across Gujarat.
