Narendra Modi arrived in Oslo as part of his multi-nation tour and received a warm welcome from the Indian diaspora. The visit marks the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Norway in 43 years and PM Modi’s first-ever trip to the Nordic nation.

Bilateral Talks with Norwegian PM Jonas Gahr Store

Prime Minister Modi held bilateral discussions with Jonas Gahr Store aimed at strengthening India–Norway relations. The talks focused on boosting cooperation in trade, investment, clean energy, innovation, maritime sectors, and sustainable development.

A major focus of the visit is cooperation in clean and green technologies and the blue economy. Officials said both nations are looking to expand collaboration in renewable energy, climate initiatives, Arctic affairs, and sustainable maritime practices.

PM Modi to Meet Norwegian Royal Family

During the visit, PM Modi is scheduled to call on King Harald V and Queen Sonja. The Prime Minister will also address the India–Norway Business and Research Summit in Oslo.

India–Nordic Summit to Boost Regional Cooperation

Tomorrow, Prime Minister Modi will participate in the 3rd India–Nordic Summit. The summit is expected to strengthen India’s engagement with Nordic countries in sectors such as defence, innovation, research, and people-to-people ties.

The summit comes amid the implementation of the Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement, which is expected to accelerate economic cooperation between India and Nordic nations. Bilateral trade between India and the five Nordic countries currently stands at nearly 19 billion US dollars.

Visit Seen as Major Diplomatic Milestone

The visit is being viewed as a significant step toward deepening India’s longstanding and cordial relations with the Nordic region while opening new opportunities for strategic and economic collaboration.
