Ajit Doval on terrorism: National Security Adviser Ajit Doval has called for strong and decisive international action against terrorism, asserting that there can be “no double standards” in combating the global threat. Addressing an international security forum in Moscow, Mr. Doval urged responsible nations to take a clear stand against countries and entities that sponsor terrorism.

Speaking at the first International Security Forum and the 14th Meeting of High Representatives for Security Matters, Mr. Doval emphasized that the international community must collectively confront terrorism with determination and consistency.

“Responsible nations have to evaluate their choices and decide whether they support sponsors of terrorism or counter them with decisive action,” he said during his address.

Focus on Global Security Challenges

The high-level meeting, hosted by Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Sergei Shoigu, focused on “Challenges and Threats to International Security in the context of the Emergence of the Multipolar World.” Representatives from several countries participated in discussions on evolving global security dynamics and emerging geopolitical challenges.

Call for Reforms in Global Institutions

Mr. Doval also highlighted the urgent need to reform global institutions established after the Second World War in 1945, stating that the current international framework must evolve to effectively address contemporary security threats.

He stressed that reforms in global governance structures should ensure greater representation for countries of the Global South and adequately reflect their concerns and perspectives.

Concerns Over Maritime Security

Referring to the tense situation in West Asia, the NSA underlined the importance of ensuring the safe and uninterrupted movement of international trade through critical maritime routes, including the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea.

Bilateral Meeting with Russia

On the sidelines of the forum, Mr. Doval held bilateral talks with his Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu. According to the Indian Embassy in Moscow, the discussions covered cooperation in defence, security, energy, and trade-economic relations between India and Russia.

Growing Global Concerns
