India’s First Bullet Train Revealed
India’s dream of high-speed rail travel is now moving closer to reality. Indian Railways has unveiled the design of the country’s first bullet train, creating excitement among railway enthusiasts and passengers alike. The photograph of the proposed train has been displayed at Gate No. 4 of the Ministry of Railways in New Delhi, offering the first official glimpse of India’s future high-speed train.
Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor
India’s first bullet train will run on the 508-kilometre-long Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor. The project will pass through the states of Maharashtra and Gujarat, along with the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli. A total of 12 stations are planned along the route, including Mumbai, Thane, Virar, Boisar, Vapi, Bilimora, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, Anand, Ahmedabad, Sabarmati.
Construction Work Progressing Rapidly
According to railway officials, foundation work at eight stations in Gujarat has already been completed. Construction activities are progressing quickly at Thane, Virar, and Boisar stations in Maharashtra.
Excavation work at the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) station in Mumbai is also nearing completion. In addition, work on the undersea tunnel—one of the most challenging parts of the project—is moving ahead at a fast pace.
Designed for 280 km/h Speed
The high-speed train is being developed under the “Make in India” initiative. Integral Coach Factory and BEML are jointly working on the train sets.
According to the railway ministry, the bullet train will have a design speed of around 280 kilometres per hour. Once operational, the train is expected to significantly reduce travel time between Mumbai and Ahmedabad.
Japanese Technology with Indian Customization
The bullet train project is being developed with the support of Japanese high-speed rail technology. However, the train is being specially designed to suit Indian climatic conditions and passenger requirements.
Railway officials say the train will feature world-class safety systems, comfortable seating, modern amenities, and advanced technology aimed at transforming rail travel in India.
