Leaders across the political spectrum have congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi after he was conferred Sweden’s highest honour for a Head of Government — the Royal Order of the Polar Star, Commander Grand Cross.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal described the recognition as a “moment of national pride” and said the award reflects the growing respect and admiration for India under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership on the global stage. In a social media post, Mr. Goyal noted that this is the 31st international honour bestowed upon the Prime Minister by a foreign nation.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla also congratulated the Prime Minister, stating that the prestigious recognition highlights India’s rising global stature and the Prime Minister’s visionary leadership. He said the honour would further deepen the friendship and strategic partnership between India and Sweden.
Sweden Honours PM Modi for Strengthening Bilateral Relations
The Royal Order of the Polar Star, Commander Grand Cross, is among Sweden’s most distinguished honours awarded to foreign dignitaries and heads of government for strengthening bilateral relations and international cooperation.
