President Droupadi Murmu on Viksit Bharat: Droupadi Murmu today called upon young civil servants to work with courage, integrity, and determination to achieve the vision of a developed India, or “Viksit Bharat.” Addressing IAS officers of the 2024 batch at Rashtrapati Bhavan, the President said officers would often need to move “against the tide” while taking decisions in the larger public interest.
Officers to Play Key Role in Nation Building
During the interaction, President Murmu highlighted the critical role civil servants play in shaping the nation’s future. She said the young officers would have opportunities to work in diverse sectors and lead teams of experts in specialised fields throughout their careers.
Morality Lies in Taking Right Decisions
Emphasising the importance of leadership and accountability, the President noted that refraining from taking decisions should not be considered morality. Instead, she said, true morality lies in taking timely and correct decisions that align with public welfare and the established constitutional framework.
Vision of Viksit Bharat
The President’s remarks come at a time when India is focusing on administrative reforms, inclusive growth, and efficient governance to achieve the goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047.
Her address also underlined the expectations from the new generation of civil servants to uphold transparency, dedication, and ethical governance while serving the country.
